The Klinkhammer Paraloop

Materials

Hook:       Partridge Klinkhammer

Thread:   8/0 Brown or Black

Abdomen:  Ostrich Hurl or Dubbing

Rib:          White Floss 3/0

Thorax:       Peacock Hurl

Hackle:       About twice the gape of hook.

Tying Instructions

Dress the hook with thread to a point opposite the barb. Tie in the ostrich hurl and Floss at this point. 

Wrap the Ostrich hurl in tight turns 2/3 up the hook, then counter wrap the white floss to the same point and tie off. 

Tie in the loop thread at this point, pass around the gallows at the kink as shown above and back to the tie in point. Tie off.  Slide the loop to a vertical position and check that it is taught. (If not, move the gallows forward and shorten the loop or bend the gallows upward.)

Tie in the hackle at this point as shown.

Slide the Loop to the vertical position then wrap the hackle upwards around the vertical thread. (The height must be greater than the remaining distance to the eye of the hook) Now wrap downwards through the upward turns being careful not to trap any fibers and tie off.

Tip: When wrapping the hackle hold a bodkin against the loop and wrap around the bodkin and loop. Then pull out the bodkin when finished

Now pull the loop back as shown exposing the hook front before dubbing the thorax.

Tie in a few strands of peacock hurl at this point. (A small strip of foam can be tied on top of the hook shank at this point for increased buoyancy).

Wrap the Peacock hurl forward forming the thorax and tie off.

Pull The loop forward over the thorax. Tie off and form a neat thread head and cement.

(Before pulling the hackle forward and tying off compact the hackle by holding the top of the loop and pressing down with a bodkin between the strands of the loop)
